Hello, and welcome.
My name is Bonnie (Joanna), and my home parish is St. John the Theologian Orthodox Mission in Fairfax Station, Virginia. I have four children, one graduated, down to the youngest in upper elementary, and we live in an old farmhouse in Virginia that we are slowly renovating from decrepit to Dulce Domum. I have homeschooled for going on fifteen years, in addition to being involved at a local Orthodox cottage school (St. Nicholas Academic Community) in many capacities, whether in teaching, administration, curriculum planning, or board member.
This collaboration was borne first out of necessity, as we needed resources both at home and at school that were rooted in the Orthodox faith (rather than tacked on, or swapped out piecemeal, here and there), and then grew out of a realization that after many years, I have gathered and developed many resources that might prove helpful to others. While my background is a classical education and Charlotte Mason pedagogy, it is my desire that educational methodology take a back seat to the primary goal of the Orthodox education and formation of our children, built upon the life of the Church, for the life of the world.
I am beginning the long process of getting resources organized and edited so that we can better share them with others. I pray they are useful, and am so thankful for those who have shared with me! You can reach me at: orthodoxformation@gmail.com
Glory to God!
“Glory to You for Your eternity in this fleeting world; Glory to You for Your memories seen and unseen; Glory to You through every sigh of my sorrow; Glory to You for every step of my life’s journey; For every moment of glory. Glory to You, O God, from age to age.”
~Akathist: ‘Glory to God for all things,’ found among the belongings of Fr. G. Petrov, upon his death in1940, Soviet Union GULAG; attributed to Metropolitan Tryphon of Turkestan
